Maxi Premium EPO is a super combination of hexane free Evening Primrose and Flax seed oils, which provide essential fatty acids, required for the proper structure & function of every cell in the body and are important for optimal health. Evening primrose oil is rich in essential fatty acids, polyunsaturated fats, that are as essential as vitamins and minerals for the maintenance of good health. The oil contains 74 percent linolenic acid (LA) and 8-10 percent gamma linolenic acid (GLA). Which are better known as Omega 6 oils. Under ideal conditions Gamma Linolenic acid and arachidonic acid can be converted from linoleic acid. In turn, GLA produces beneficial hormone-like compounds called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins affect the function of virtually every system in the body. GLA should theoretically convert to Prostaglandins but many things can interfere with this conversion. Advanced age, diabetes, high alcohol intake, eczema, cyclic mastitis, viral infections, excessive saturated fat intake, elevated cholesterol, processed oils, heated oils, and some vitamin/mineral deficiencies all contribute to the interference of GLA conversion. The result is that virtually all North Americans are deficient in GLA. Supplementing with evening primrose oil can enrich the body's GLA supply and restore the production of beneficial prostaglandins derived from GLA. Research completed over the last 20 years has confirmed that supplementation with evening primrose oil has beneficial effects in numerous diseases and conditions. Health problems supported and/or suggested by scientific trials using evening primrose oil include premenstrual syndrome, fibrocystic breast pain, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and osteoporosis, eczema and all skin conditions. Flax seed oil, another important polyunsaturated fatty acid is an omega-3 fatty acid. Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) Omega 3 is deemed an essential nutrient for maintaining good health and normal growth and development. Unfortunately the human body does not naturally replenish the Omega 3 it uses. Omega 3 must be obtained through your daily dietary intake or through the use of Omega 3 supplements. Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is found in high amounts (50 to 60 percent) in flax seed oil and some vegetables. Approximately 10 percent of Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is transformed in our bodies into two other fatty acids: EPA and DHA (compounds found in fish oil). Consuming flax seed oil may be particularly important for vegetarians who do not eat fish. Flax seed oil is nature's most abundant source of lignans. Lignans are naturally-occuring substances found in plants and are classified as phytoestrogens, which can modulate the metabolism and may support a healthy immune system. Adequate amounts of these oils can maintain general health It is important to note, that not all oils are manufactured equally. Some oils are extracted through the use of chemical solvents such as hexane, which besides the environmental issue, can damage the oil because of the high heat used in processing. Better quality oils are hexane free. The freshness of the oil is also an important consideration because rancid oils have an unpleasant taste and odor.
